All Catholic parents are obligated to education their children in the Catholic faith. Praying at home, watching wholesome television shows, being charitable, going to Mass each Sunday are all ways in which Catholic parents teach their children about their faith and how to live a Catholic life.
In addition, Catholic parents must also see to it that their children receive a formal Catholic education, either in a Catholic school or, if the children attend public school, by attending Religious Education classes offered in the local parish.
We offer Religious Education (Faith Formation) classes for people in the 1st through 8th grades on either Wednesday or Friday, depending on your child’s age and grade. Inquire regarding our special classes for teens or young adults.
Participation in our Faith Formation program requires a commitment from parents and children alike. Parents must be registered in our parish. They must see to it that their children go to Mass on Sunday and provide financial support to the parish. Families should participate in the life of the parish too by joining a ministry, a prayer group or attending special events, etc. When parents meetings are scheduled, one parent MUST always attend. It is assumed that parents will teach their children at home the basic prayers such as the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the Glory Be etc.
Children must do their best in class, and be kind and courteous to classmates and their catechists (teachers). One and a half hours of class times each week goes fast, especially with young children. Parents should work hand in hand with our catechists to ensure that the children continue to learn about our Catholic faith!
Registration for Faith Formation classes is taking place NOW!! Please bring your child’s original birth certificate and baptismal certificate at the time of registration.
